Mentors and Alumni
These are our Mentors and Alumni. Most are graduated Leaside Students who currently pursue careers in STEM related fields, while others continually support us through mentorship and even funding for the team. We thank them for all they have done for us, for without them, we would not have become the outstanding robotics team we are today.

Mr. Vincent Lu
Staff Advisor
When it comes to the member with the utmost commitment and dedication, there are none who equate to that of Mr. Lu. Even outside the robotics room and competitions, his efforts as a teacher surpass many others’, spending entire lunch periods at school providing extra help to computer science students. Mr. Lu’s efforts as a robotics mentor had started long before the foundation of LanceBotics, when he was a teacher at Don Mills Collegiate Institute. He was the Staff Advisor for their school’s robotics team -- Team 2505 The Electric Sheep -- and although he had switched schools, his commitment to providing students with STEM experience was brought with him. He has spent countless hours organizing funding, planning for competitions, mentoring each team, and most importantly, supporting us through our journey in VEX as well as in High School. The team will never forget the times he’s worked nonstop to make sure our teams were all prepared, notably when the hotel we had booked for the World Championship had informed us of overbooking as we were on our way to the competition. Whilst still en route, Mr. Lu had made four-hours-worth of phone calls, and had managed to find us a hotel relatively close to the competition venue. He had lost his voice, but he had done it for us. It’s clear that if it wasn’t for him, we wouldn’t have even competed at this past season’s World Championship. From the bottom of our hearts, we appreciate all that he has done for us, and wish him the best in the coming years as he continues to teach and mentor new students. Although four years is a long time, it is not enough for us to learn all that we can from him as our role model. Thank you Mr. Lu!
